Change your password

A password is as important as the information that protects. At the ABC we care that our private information does not become public. We encourage you to follow the next tips (policies) as guidelines and good practices when you come to change your password:

  1. Use a different password for each online service. i.e.: Use one for the ABC services and a different one for personal accounts like Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  2. Never use a easy word, a dictionary word or your own name within the password.
  3. Change your password regularly, do not allow several years pass by without changing it.
  4. When you create a new password: use capital letters as well as low letters, use numbers and special characters together with a minimum length of 8 characters.
  5. Use mnemonics: a learning technique that aids information retention in the human memory. You can remember a complex concept starting from a simple one. i.e.: from the phrase "This is John Doe's computer" you can create something like "TiJDc+2001"
  6. When you create a new password you can replace letters using numbers. i.e.: 2 instead of Z, 3 instead of E, etc.
  7. Never use Post-its or any kind of paper to write down you new password it is better to remember it or use a "Password manager".
  8. There is no limit in the length of a password.
