The last week of the year is here!
It seems like such a long time that we have been in Prepa and now we are moving up to 1st Grade.
We have had a great year and learned a lot!
This week it was time to clear the classroom, tidy up and take all our work home. We also had time to have a music competition, a party for our good behaviour and of course an end-of-year party. We’d like to say “Cheers!” to our teachers.

Have a great holiday!

This week we have been learning about Fernando Llort and about different styles of painting. Then we went to the

The children in Prepa have also been learning some dance routines to accompany Kylie Minogue’s songs. Here is a movie of the “Dance Off” that we had on Friday.
This week for the topic of Famous People, we have been learning about Kylie Minogue. She is a famous singer, so the children have been learning the words to her songs and making their own songs. They then went into a “recording studio” in each classroom to record lots of different songs. You will find a Voicethread containing the recordings for each class below.

Pirates! Pirates! Pirates!
Prepa has had a fantastic week learning, making and dressing up like Pirates. We began the week learning about the famous Pirate Henry Morgan who lived nearly 373 years ago. We discovered the places he traveled to and how life was for a pirate then. We also wrote our own Pirate Poems and made Pirate Puppets. Finally, on Friday we got to be a Pirate. We paraded around Lower Primary showing off our cool homemade Pirate costumes. It has been a long and exciting week and we all look forward to what new famous person we will be learning about next!

We enjoyed some
exciting “night activities” last Friday, with
students returning to school at the end of
the afternoon to participate in a variety of games, walks,
a special show and firework display.
The evening finished
with milk and cookies and a great bedtime story!

Welcome Back! After a much needed two week holiday the Prepa students are ready to go for their final 12 weeks of Prepa! Everyone had a great
The first week back students and teachers alike had to get back on routine and remember all those important things that we were learning before we left. This week we continued to learn about Plants and what they need to grow. In Literacy, students are learning about Poems and rhyming words and in Numeracy we are learning how to count by 5’s. Prepa also said goodbye to the little pool and graduated to the BIG swimming this week. Here are Prepa Mulford testing the waters.
We are very excited to be back and looking forward to what the rest of year has to come!

On the last day of term we all enjoyed an Egg Hunt in the gardens of the school.
We found lots of colourful eggs. The Easter Bunny must have been very busy!

On Monday we started a new topic in Prepa, “Around Our School.”
To start off the topic the students chose a person in the school to interview. They asked them questions about their job and what they liked about working in school. We have also been making maps of our Classrooms and the Lower Primary. Students took a tour around Lower Primary to make sure that their maps were as accurate as possible.
We are having a lot of fun learning new things about the place that we come to everyday!

As part of our Materials topic we all went to a Furniture Factory and a Pasta Factory. It was really very interesting.
We saw how they turn the wood from trees into furniture. By sawing and planning and sanding and varnishing.
Then we saw how they made pasta. It was amazing to see the flour and oil going in and the long spaghetti coming out.
They also had an Orange Orchard, so we saw all the oranges that they sell to the companies to make Orange Juice.
What a great day! We learned so much about how we change materials into things that we use everyday. You can see all the photos here.
