| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

During Literacy lessons we have been learning how to write instructions and we have been testing our instructions. We have also been talking about plants and how we plant a seed. Putting all of this together we decided to make a MUD PIE! We wrote the instructions during our Literacy lesson and we tested the results during our numeracy lesson…..and guess what happened next? We got to eat it all up! It turned out to be a delicious recipe. You should try it some day.

This week's entry comes from Prepa McManus.

On Monday we started a new topic in Prepa, “Around Our School.”

To start off the topic the students chose a person in the school to interview.  They asked them questions about their job and what they liked about working in school.  We have also been making maps of our Classrooms and the Lower Primary. Students took a tour around Lower Primary to make sure that their maps were as accurate as possible.

On Wednesday this week it was the 100th day of school, which means that we have all been in Prepa for 100 days!

To celebrate, we worked a lot with the number 100. We made posters with collections of 100 objects. They were really colourful! Prepa Tenorio and Prepa Mena made displays for the corridors...

...and we all enjoyed counting 100 snacks and then eating them. We also painted our classroom doors with 100 colourful handprints.

As part of our Materials topic we all went to a Furniture Factory and a Pasta Factory. It was really very interesting.

We saw how they turn the wood from trees into furniture. By sawing and planning and sanding and varnishing.

Then we saw how they made pasta. It was amazing to see the flour and oil going in and the long spaghetti coming out.

They also had an Orange Orchard, so we saw all the oranges that they sell to the companies to make Orange Juice.

What a great day! We learned so much about how we change materials into things that we use everyday.

This week's entry comes from Prepa Tenorio.

Wow! We have been learning about one of our favourite things on earth: TOYS! It has been really interesting to learn about the materials that are used to make our toys and how toys have been a part of every single kid’s life since a long time ago. We learned about the games that our teachers used to play. We particularly enjoyed playing hopscotch. We were really shocked when we learned that our parents and teachers did not have a WII or an X-Box.

You can see the photos here.

We were also so lucky this week in Prepa to be able to use the new Lower Primary SMART Board. This week it was Prepa Mulford’s turn but soon we all have a go. Have a look photos of the SMART Board in action here.
