Today was our own ABC MUN Day. All grade 9 students have spent time during the last 4 weeks being directed, cajoled, trained and shaped by our 11th grade experienced HMUN students into becoming future MUN world delegates!!
Today was THE DAY when they had to argue their cases, represent their countries and sort out their differences - they did this in an incredibly responsible way. We were very proud of them - they are truly our examples of responsible outstanding citizens!!
The day was a great success, thanks to all the students and the teachers involved - Ms Nicel, Ms Graham and Mr Eames.
Well done everyone.

A Tree Planting Day was
planned by our "Guardians of the Environment". We contacted City Hall of San Salvador, District 4
through Cynthia Roberts from The American Women Association, and they donated
50 trees to be planted at Parque “Talapo”, Colonia Altamira, on the east side of
Estadio Cuscatlán. This was done on Saturday 31st May 2008 and we
spent about 3 hours on this activity. Twenty nine of our 11th Grade studnets and two of our teachers were grateful for the opportunity.

11th Grade Geography Field Trip to Antigua

Last weekend (16th May) Grade 11 IB Geography Group went on a field trip to Antigua. Below are some slides and a selection of the students' comments

The trip to Antigua was a great experience. I had fun with everyone, I learned about volcanoes and saw red hot lava (something I thought I'd never see!!) and walked around the town independently, all while also recording data. Aside from just working, I think I gained some personal experiences which will definitely reappear during college ..luli

My geography trip to Antigua was an unforgettable experience. I learned a lot of skills that will be very helpful in my geography course. We also had the chance to have new experiences such as going up a volcano and walking on lava, or getting to know things about Antigua which I didn’t know, such as its history and people We got much closer as a group and made new friends as a lot of teamwork was needed to collect all the data.…sofi

In my opinion the Antigua trip was an amazing experience, since we had the opportunity to visit the Pacaya volcano, which was one in a life time experience, we were able to see lava which was very near to us. Even though, it was a trip based in education we really had a lot of fun, I would never regret of this trip….monika

Antigua was an incredible experience. Although it was a school trip each of us had fun. Teamwork was the most valuable lesson I learned from this trip, and of course about tourism in Antigua. People in Antigua were all very nice, especially when you needed help. The trip to the Volcano was a new experience and although I was scared the whole time it was worth it. …ale r

Habitat for Humanity and ABC Global Citizens Unite in a Joint Venture

1st December 2007
This morning ten ABC students from Grades 7, 8 and 9 set off for an area near Santa Ana where they spent the day helping the Habitat Charlotte housing project. This project is building small duplex houses for the local community, along with a Community Centre and a Day Care Centre for the inhabitants. This small village is in a beautiful area just 15 minutes from Santa Ana and the families who will live in the houses also help with the construction work.
We sanded and painted walls, and moved mountains of sand, earth and wood from one part of the project to another.
We left very dirty and tired but having had fun and helped towards making two of the houses a little nearer to completion. If you click on the photos you will go to the slide show in Picasa.
